Revamping Internal Communication:
A UX Redesign for Diodes
Estimated 7 min read
Overview
During my time at Diodes as an intern, I led a revamp of our internal communication setup, focusing on three main messages: "eMessanger," "Spotlight," and "eTarget." "eMessanger" is our monthly newsletter, keeping everyone updated on our products and the latest tech. "Spotlight" shines a light on new products for lease, while "eTarget" shares the latest solutions for semiconductor devices.
This redesign aimed to make communication clearer and more effective for our sales, potential buyers, engineers, and FAEs.

Role
Visual Design Intern
Audience
Sales team, potential buyers, engineers, and FAEs.
Problem
Diodes’ internal communication was fragmented, leading to unclear, inconsistent messaging across key internal channels. Sales, engineers, buyers, and FAEs struggled to engage with or easily access critical information. The main goal was to unify communication across three primary channels—eMessenger, Spotlight, and eTarget—ensuring clarity, consistency, and better engagement.
User Research
-
Who were the stakeholders: Sales, engineers, buyers, and FAEs.
-
Methods used: Interviews, surveys, and feedback from users to understand pain points in communication.
Design Goals
-
Enhance readability and usability.
-
Ensure the information is well-organized, relevant, and easy to digest.
-
Use a clear, cohesive visual design across the three internal communication channels.
Wirefram& Prototype
-
Developed initial wireframes to outline the layout for each communication channel.
-
Created high-fidelity prototypes for each of the three main messages: eMessanger, Spotlight, eTarget.
The Design Process
The Solution
Visual Layout

Interactive elements (buttons, links) that lead to more in-depth product or solution details.
Easy-to-navigate sections with clear headings for each message.
A consistent color scheme, typography, and design elements across all three messages.

Challenges Faced and How I Overcame Them
Challenge 1:
Ensuring clarity and relevance for diverse audiences (technical and non-technical).
Solution:
Worked closely with teams to ensure content was tailored to different needs, using clear headings and concise copy.
Challenge 2:
Solution:
Creating engaging, interactive content that encouraged users to explore further.
Introduced clear calls-to-action, added links for deeper product exploration, and improved the visual design to encourage user interaction.
Learnings and Reflections
This project taught me the importance of aligning design with user needs while maintaining clarity and consistency in communication. It also showed me how design can significantly impact internal collaboration and efficiency.
Next Steps
A/B Testing
The project transitioned into an A/B test to evaluate the effectiveness of the design changes.
However, due to higher-level company decisions, visual improvements were deprioritized, and the project was paused after my internship ended. If the project moves forward, further testing and refinements would be a priority to fully implement the design improvements.
